Above is a concept picture of the next instalment in Samsungs flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S(5).  The S4 proved a big success, it was thin, the screen was amazing, it was light and powerful.

Firstly, release date rumours.  March is the widely expected month for Samsung to release their new device.  Following their annual cycle, the South Korean firm will most likely put on a big show, hype it up with slightly confusing advertising (just look what they did with the S4) and show off the S5 with a bang.  However, I've heard some rumours that the launch is going to be brought forward.  To February.  Why?  Because the S4 actually sold less than predicted.

Now, moving on to some design features and one thing that has been floating around the web a lot in recent months is the idea of the S5 finaly going all metal.  My S3 is a good phone, but (and this also applies with the S4) its casing is entirely plastic.  This really makes it feel a bit cheap, and doesn't give it that premium feel you get with the iPhone 5S and the HTC One.  So, the design aspect should be pretty important to Samsung with the S5.  Some rumours say there is truth in an all metal casing, with an 'inside source' reporting to Android Geeks that the S5 will come with a fully aluminium chassis and a completely new look.

In terms of screen, Samsung is apparently bringing a 2k effect to our smartphones with 560ppi.  This does make some sense as they have said they want to go 4K for 2015 smartphones.

Operating system is fairly simple.  As usual, the flagship device will come with the latest version of Android (4.4 Kitakat) with the usual Samsung tweaks.  Although I have heard one rumour suggesting Samsumg will release the device with android but also a second with it's own software.  I'm not sure that would really be a good move for Samsung, sticking with Google is probably the best bet for now.  But who knows, it's only a rumour.

Samsung Galaxy S5 - LEAK
Rumoured Patent design
The above is a rumoured patent by Samsung for the S5.  If this is real, then it means we may be saying bye bye to the physical home button.

One thing that is fairly certain with the S5 is that Samsung will keep the screen flat, not curved.  In my opinion, this is a good idea.  We don't actually know that curved screens are the way forward and it would be a huge risk for Samsung to take with their flagship handset.

For the camera, obviously more megapixels are going to be on the scene though it's unclear yet what it's going to be.  The S4 has a 13MP camera, but this really doesn't compare to the likes of a Nokia Lumia phone with 41MP.

Finally, will Samsung really copy apple and add a finger print scanner?  The rumours say.... no!  A Samsung official reportedly told the Korean Times that the firm isn't currently developing this technology.  Is this a good move?  Yes, it probably is.  I think the iPhones Finger print scanner is really a bit of a novelty.  Granted, it may be good technology but it has yet to catch on with other leading manufacturers.

So thats it, the lastest rumours about the S5.  Of course, all of the above is speculation and we will never really know the features until it comes out.  What do you want to see in the S5?  Comment below!
