Apple could be releasing a cheaper phone!

iPhone 5: £529
More evidence proving that Apple might release a cheaper phone has come forward.  A senior Apple executive has withdrawn comments in which he denied Apple would move into the cheaper end of the smartphone market.  Analysts have been speculating for months now and many think that Apple will try to expand by creating a more affordable handset.

Why would Apple do this?
Apple is known for being a premium brand with it's cheapest iPhone currently costing £529.00 on their website.  Compare this to budget devices such as the Nokia Asha range where some phones in the series cost just £29.00 then there is a big difference.  Now compare Apple to Samsung.  Apple makes what is the most popular premium smartphone, and Samsung, debatable, makes the second most popular.  But Samsung also has a huge range of budget and mid range phones, suiting all consumer needs.
Now, it's not likely Apple is going to start creating phones costing anything below £100.  realistically , if Apple do decide to cut into the lower budget markets prices will be from around £250 to £350.

Budget phones compared to Premium phones
Budget, touch screen smartphones are not to be ruled out as "rubbish".  They can basically do all the things that high-end phones can do just not as well.  For example, they have a slower processor (usually one that was used in premium phones 3-4 years ago), they have a lower screen resolution, usually a shorter battery life and worse cameras.

At the moment Apple has been reusing it's previous iPhones.  The iPhone 4 can still be purchased from Apple but at a lower price of £319 while the 4S is £449.  This is quite a smart move from Apple as it means people can get an iPhone at a much cheaper price and Apple don't have to design anything new.
