News: Microsoft fined for promoting it's own browser!

a PC running Windows 7 and 8

Microsoft has been fined a whopping £484 million ($731m) for failing to promote browsers other than it's own Internet explorer. In 2010 an EU settlement forced Microsoft to show this popup (left). However, in the Windows 7 update they 'accidently' dropped it due to "technical issues".

This latest ruling follows complaints from other browsers who say they don;t have a fair chance. But is it really unfair to make Microsoft promote other companies software on computers running it's own operating system?
