Apple Watches Announced!

Apple have finally launched their Smartwatch collection, showing off a variety of models which can cost up to £13,500. The watches, which will go on sale 24 April, come in two sizes: 42mm and 38mm.

You will be able to pre-order the devices from 10 April, via Apple's website.

Battery life has been an issue with previous smartwatches, but according to Tim Cook, the Apple watch will last 18 hours between charges.

Apple have also told us that the watch already has thousands of apps developed for it; among these are Facebook, Instagram and Uber. The watch will be able to make touchless payments and recieve phone calls and messages.

Smartwatch sales have so far been limited. Despite releases from Samsung, they haven't yet hit the mass market. Apple could well change this, simply due to their brand reach. Apple loyalists will no doubt buy the product - allowing Apple to sell substantial amounts even if they don't penetrate the mass market. The challenge for Apple is to get the average iPhone user to buy one. This is going to take extensive advertising of the product, something we haven't seen from other companies.
