'RETRY' smartphone game review (iOS/ Android)

RETRY is one of the latest games to come out of Rovio Mobile Ltd, the company responsible for Angry Birds. In fact, the app description simply reads 'From the guys sitting in the room next to the guys who made Angry Birds!'.

The game, categorised as 'Arcade', is simple in nature. You are flying a plane from a 2D, side on prospective (the graphics are done in a kind-of 8-bit format) which you must guide through the obstacles towards the end. You can collect coins and bolts on the way, the coins allow you to do a number of things such as unlocking the route (a line will guide you through the course) of that particular section to enabling you to use platforms as a restart base (these are positioned throughout each course). The bolts enable you to d range of different things, from attracting more coins to moving more slowly.

Of course, it's been named retry for a reason. The game gets harder as it goes on and you can spend a lot of time retrying over and over again. This does, however, make it a fun and addictive game- like the majority of app-store hits it follows the rules of being simple, fun and addictive. You can find some faults in the game but these are limited. Given as it's free, one would be too demanding to expect much more from the game- so I do recommend giving it a go.
