3DS to get digital downloads: Latest news

By Toby 03 July 2012
Nintendo will finally introduce digital downloads for its famous handheld gaming device, the 3DS.

An open aqua-blue Nintendo 3DS system.Being able to digitally download games is something that has definitely caught on in the past few years, especially after the introduction of the iPhone and it's app store. And as the games on apples app store and the android app store get better and more sophisticated ( Fifa 12 for example), it is clear that digitally downloading games is the way forward.

The games released on Nintendos eStore will be available to download, the same day asa they are out in the store. The first games to be available for download will be Super Mario bros 2 which will be out in August.

Nintendo is also going to be making digital downloads available for its new console; the wii U which also to be released in August.

But do we really need dedicated handheld gaming devices? With Smartphones becoming more popular and more sophisticated, we might start to see the end of devices made specifically for gaming as more people turn to devices which can do a bit of everything.
