Apple iWatch- Latest Rumours (February 2014)

With the release of the Samsung Galaxy Gear and the Sony Smartwatch 2, an Apple version can't be far away.  With that in mind, here are the latest rumours on Apples version of a smartwatch:

Firstly, release date.  We expect the watch to be out very soon.  Previous rumours have suggested early 2014 however,  Apple are going to have noted what happened with the galaxy gear (which was really a half-hearted attempt, Samsung have already said they'll release a second version soon) and want to produce something of good quality that will be attractive to consumers.  The latest rumour suggests that the iWatch could be released along side iOS 8 and have a big focus on health.

According to 9to5mac, sources from inside Apple told them that we will see a release of iOS 8 this year.  The rumours also say that there is an app codenamed 'Healthbook' which will come as standard with the operating system.  It will be able to do things like monitor your steps and is possible that the iWatch will link in with it well.  This would make sense and justify an iOS 8 and iWatch launch at similar times. 

Early rumours suggest that we will see a curved screen with others suggesting a flexible, 'bendy' screen.  This is also backed up by the claim that LG will provide a G-flex like display for the watch.

The iWatch will most likely be fully functional with Siri, a flagship and unique point for Apple devices.  It would be unlikely that the technology which is featured on all their latest handheld devices would be left out of this new device. 

Price is very much speculation at the moment, more than the features of the actual device.  It's an Apple product so, lets face it, it's never going to be particularly cheap.  The Galaxy Gear first retailed at £300, although can now be found for less, and so it's highly unrealistic to think Apple will it something on h market for less.  I think it'll cost about £250-300 on first release.
