Nintendo cuts Wii U price amid Sales disaster

By Admin 22 January 2014
Nintendo have slashed the price of their Wii U to just £179.  Considering the games console is supposed to be sold at £300, this is a massive price drop.  Despite this being good news for consumers, it's not good news for Nintendo.  Sales of the Wii U failed to come close to those predicted by Nintendo.  And it's not just with the Wii U that things are going badly for the Japanese firm.  The latest in the line of handheld DS devices, the 3DS and the 2DS, failed to take off.  This is, in common opinion, due to the rise of smartphones and tablets replacing portable games consoles.

2013 was a bad year for Nintendo as a whole.  A catastrophic loss of £147 million was recorded and things aren't looking better for 2014 either.
